I Fear We Shall Never See Home Again
Imagine being a young man who has come of age during the early days of the American Civil War and without needing your parent’s approval, may now go off to war. Such was the case of William Lester Faurot and four of his closest friends from Coldwater, Michigan. When President Lincoln called for more troops, the boys from Coldwater enlisted without hesitation in the 18th Michigan Infantry Regiment, Company G. Like all young men, as they trained for war, they were full of bravado and untested courage. “I’m gonna kill me some Rebs,” was often their vow. That would all change during the following three years and nine months. In a detachment of approximately 400 soldiers from the 18th Michigan and the 102nd Ohio Volunteer Regiment, their first and only combat experience would be against an estimated 4,500 troops under the command of Confederate General Nathan Bedford Forrest. Despite such overwhelming odds, the courageous detachment fought as if they were a force equal in size to their enemy. Within sight of their objective, now out of ammunition, they discovered that their objective had already surrendered. They too were forced to surrender. During the six months that followed, the boys from Coldwater would experience horrid conditions beyond what they could ever have imagined, but they would survive. The worst was over, and with great joy in their hearts, they were returning home to their loved ones. Sadly, life still had one last cruel twist of fate, known as the steamboat Sultana.

Jacob’s Ladder of Vengeance
“Vengeance is mine, sayeth the Lord,” but after learning of his wife’s brutal rape and murder at the hands of members of Quantrill’s Raiders, Jacob Perigo, veteran of the American Civil War, decides that perhaps it would be best if he assists the Lord in this mission. “When you do bad things, eventually you get what’s coming to you. Vengeance may be God’s, but I believe He uses us to do His bidding…maybe we are meant to be the instrument of the Lord and do it for Him.” With hate in his heart, Jacob, along with a half-brother and two cousins, will set off on a quest for vengeance, throughout post-Civil War Missouri and Kansas, seeking their quarry in places where the war has not yet ended. Their trail will lead to those he seeks, but it will also unexpectedly lead to a second chance at love. She is a woman who shares a similar need for revenge. Will they both find what they are looking for?

Thank God for Michigan
Thank God for Michigan relates the experiences of a farmer from Plymouth, Michigan, turned soldier, and the company he was enlisted in, Company C of the 24th Michigan Infantry Regiment. When President Abraham Lincoln calls for more troops, Ralph Terry has mixed emotions as to whether or not to enlist, as he cannot see how it affects his life and sees no purpose in the war. His opinion of the South’s desire to secede and become their own nation he expressed thusly, “So what? If that’s what they want – let ’em!” His concerns are for his pregnant wife, and his farm, but after much thought and prayers, his decision is to enlist. Over the next 3 years, Ralph Terry will suffer disease, wounds, the horrors of war, the loss of long time friends, and at times will lead him to question his faith. The effects of war will stay with him the rest of his life. Will Ralph Terry return home to his wife, the same man that she knew when he left 3 years before?

Note: I am willing to make custom special request items, if it is something I am capable of doing. From time-to-time, I have had customers request, in the case of box items, either a person’s name or monogram, or such things as bible verses, favorite poems, or some sort of expression that tells the recipient how they feel about him or her. If what is requested will fit, I am more than willing to do it.
Also, all of the above items takes time for me to make. If a customer is in a hurry, I usually turn them down. I absolutely refuse to sacrifice quality over time. When I recieve an order I do my best to give the customer constant updates as their order progresses.
