How do I know that the man sitting on the right is Lt. Colonel Jones?
Because on the back of the image of Jones and four of his guards can be seen:
But why the man sitting on the right?
Looking at the clothing of the other men, none appear to be wearing uniforms. Even their hats are not regulation Confederate head apparel. The man sitting on the right, however, is wearing a uniform.
I have been trying to find someone capable of enhancing Jones’s belt plate, but so far those that tried were unable to enhance it adequately. I have no doubt that if it was enhanced it would look like this:
